The meeting will include a presentation by FCJ Refugee Centre’s In-House Lawyer, Joshua Eisen: The Kanyinda Case & Equal access to childcare for migrant families: an overview of FCJ Refugee Centre’s joint intervention in the Supreme Court of Canada.

This is an important case because it directly addresses systemic barriers that refugee claimants and other precarious migrants are facing. The case concerns the exclusion of refugee claimants from access to subsidized child care programs in Quebec, and at stake is access to benefits for refugee claimants as well as other marginalized communities.

Our lawyer was involved from the ground up in developing arguments for this very timely and important intervention in the Supreme Court of Canada. Find out more about this case during our AGM.
