Thank you to everyone who attended this weekend’s one-day conference Research and Advocacy: Sanctuary, Solidarity and the Politics of Migrant Justice, and to all those who made it possible.

Throughout the various panels and roundtables, frontline practitioners, members of grassroots organizations, academics, and migrants themselves explored how Canada’s immigration system institutionalizes precarity for migrants with precarious status, and what justice in the city really requires, for whom, and on what terms.

It was an intense journey of learning, powerful testimonies, and deep reflection that helped us understand where we stand and what is needed to move forward.

The conference took place at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), and it was organized by the Chair Migrant Protection & International Law | Chaire protection migrant·e·s & droit international, FCJ Refugee Centre, and Soli*City – An International Partnership Project, with the financial support of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) and the Law Commission of Canada | Commission du droit du Canada.
