Job Description – Resource Development Coordinator: For this role, the Resource Development Coordinator is responsible for supporting day-to-day fundraising and special event activities, enhance the funding portfolio, foster relationships with new and existing donors, connect with stakeholders, and ensure financial stability & sustainability. Supervised by the Senior Director and Executive Director, the Resource Development Coordinator also works closely with the Finance & Operations Manager as well as each member of the management team. As with all roles within the office, there are overarching responsibilities that apply including attendance to all staff and program specific meetings, following the policies of anti-oppression, confidentiality, the maintenance of accurate client records & files, and reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the organization’s fundraising database, including the efficient and timely processing of data relating to donations, and grants.
  • Recruitment and management of monthly donors.
  • Organizing and coordination of fundraising and organization/community events.
  • Development and promotion of fundraising campaigns.
  • Collaborate with the bookkeeper to appropriately follow up with grants and donations.

The FCJ Refugee Centre strives to meet the diverse needs of uprooted people in communities across Ontario. The Anti-Human Trafficking Migrant Case worker is tasked to offer a holistic approach in supporting and responding to the needs of migrant workers who have experienced, who are experiencing or who are at-risk of human trafficking, with a special focus on international cases of labour exploitation. You will be providing ongoing services to clients, from intake to follow-up as our doors are always open for returning clients. FCJ Refugee Centre has been providing service to those with precarious immigration status for the past 30 years.

No two days are the same at FCJ Refugee Centre. As part of working in a small grassroots organization, you need to be open to adapt yourself to any situation. You will be a core part of the Anti-Human Trafficking team, but will be working in collaboration with the organization as a whole and might be asked to support other teams with evolving tasks. The Anti-Human Trafficking team also supports remote and rural communities by contributing to create awareness and building capacity through meetings, information sessions and trainings to these organizations. Currently, while working in office most appointments with clients are done over the phone and online but you may be required to travel to locations around Ontario to provide information sessions and client support.

While our main focus is immigration support, we also provide client with assistance to access social services like Legal Aid, Ontario Works, housing, food security, etc. Knowledge of services available to those in need is critical. We are part of multiple local, provincial and federal networks that fight for migrant rights and other social issues. You will be required to attend network meetings and share with them the resources and news from FCJ Refugee Centre.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing intensive holistic case management independently and in collaboration with the Anti-Human Trafficking team.
  • Perform intake with clients to better understand their needs and create a work plan based on information gathered during intake.
  • Refer and support clients in applying for social services such as Legal Aid Ontario, Ontario Works, ODSP when eligible.
  • Provide accurate and up-to-date information about various labour rights and human trafficking for labour exploitation as they relate to exploited or at-risk migrant workers under the supervision of the project coordinator.
  • Provide individualized support, information and guidance on labour rights and human trafficking, including supporting clients in filling out forms and helping with case management in regards to wider settlement and other issues.
  • Organize and prepare critical applications such as Work Permits for Vulnerable Workers, Temporary Resident Permits, or Humanitarian and Compassionate applications.
  • Collect and analyze data related to the case support.
  • Maintain accurate records and statistics. Prepare statistical and narrative reports for the project coordinator.

The AHT youth coordinator is tasked with developing and implementing the youth led programming, through an anti-human trafficking lens at the FCJ Refugee Centre. This work directly involves participation and coordination with the centre’s Youth Network, and the Youth Alliance Against Human Trafficking.

The FCJ Youth Network offers positive and inclusive space that works from an anti-oppressive, trauma informed intersectional framework and welcomes anyone regardless of aspect of their identity including their immigration status, race, gender identity, sexual identity, or language abilities. As a youth-led initiative, the group meets weekly to socialize, participate in workshops, and engage in discussions about issues which impact them. In addition to being a space migrant youth to connect with youth who share their lived experiences, the group also provide a platform for migrant youth to be leaders and advocate for their rights.

The Youth Alliance Against HT is a program which provides access to information, resources and wrap-around supports for youth at-risk of and in conditions of human trafficking, and implements a peer-to-peer approach in connecting individuals with lived experiences to inclusive and appropriate resources.  The program conducts a youth-led preventative strategy in providing materials and hosting information sessions with the goal of increasing awareness about the intersectionality of youth and Human Trafficking, and increasing the capacity of service providers to support youth.

Responsibilities:

The Youth Worker will work closely with the Youth Coordinator to support a growing group of newcomer youth with their diverse settlement processes and social integration. This position will fill an important gap in our service delivery envelope, and offer great benefit to the community. Essentially, the Youth Worker will provide much needed additional support, to ensure a more seamless and supported transition into Canadian society.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a case file of 20 – 30 youth at a time; coordinate service delivery response

Migrant Support Worker

Start date: May 2nd, 2016
Salary and Hours: $15.50/hr, 25 hours a week for one year (52 weeks)

The Migrant Support Worker will work with existing staff, students and volunteers to develop collective solutions to address individual needs and problems associated with immigration and settlement issues.

Key Responsibilities:

-Oversee a file of 25 – 35 cases at a time, offering a wide range of settlement and immigration support; coordinate holistic service delivery response
-Maintain confidential records of cases : from assessment through follow-up; meet and debrief on a regular basis with the co-director; ensure that information is up-to-date and reflecting the latest trends and changes in immigration
-Work from a client-centered approach to increase access to services and ensure clients’ needs are being met
-Work closely with transitional housing worker to support women living in our transitional housing program with individualized case management
-Participate in program/service evaluations

 Qualifications:

  • Excellent program and project management skills.
  • Results oriented, highly motivated, and able to work effectively independently or within a team setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and background in working with individuals from diverse communities
  • Strong foundation in settlement and refugee-serving sectors
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and planning skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Demonstrated experience working with a wide variety of agencies in a community-based setting and within an anti-oppression framework.
  • Effective cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Computer literacy skills including Microsoft Office, the Internet, and email.
  • Ability to speak a second language is an asset.
