A Warmer Winter for Those Who Need It Most

As part of TMU Walk with Uprooted People in support of FCJ Refugee Centre, student groups and university departments across Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) have come together to organize winter coat donation boxes at various locations across campus.

With winter approaching, the need for warm winter clothing among people experiencing displacement and seeking refuge continues to grow. This initiative is a meaningful act of solidarity, demonstrating the power of community engagement and collective action in supporting those in need.

On November 3, our Resource Development Manager collected the first batch of 45 winter coats. This is a wonderful start, and we are deeply grateful for the generosity and commitment of the TMU community.

A heartfelt thank you to all participating TMU departments, student clubs, and initiatives:

  • Criminology
  • Criminology Course Union (CCU)
  • Faculty of Arts Community Engaged Learning & Teaching
  • Immigration and Settlement Studies MA Program
  • Office of Social Innovation
  • Pen for Justice
  • Politics and Governance Student Association
  • Soli*City
  • Global Migration Institute
  • TMU Women Of Colour In Law (WOCINLAW)
  • CARL chapter at TMU

Thank you, TMU students, faculty, staff, and academic community, for standing in solidarity with uprooted people and helping make this winter a little warmer for those who need it most!
